Message From the CEO
The holiday season has wrapped up and we look forward to a new year of serving our members and meeting their financial needs. We wanted to communicate a few changes at the credit union. December 31st was Doug Key’s last day as the President/CEO of MSCU. Doug has been an incredible mentor to me and led us through some difficult challenges. We will forever be grateful to all that he has contributed to Mutual Savings. I am humbled but very excited to be named as the new President/CEO. For 15 years, it has been a privilege to work with great team members and learn how we work together to serve our member-owners. Having been in the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, I look forward to this new role, growing our credit union and preparing for the future needs of our members.
One change you may have already noticed is the new look to our home page. Our sole intent in changing this website was to make sure that members could easily access their account and gather more information no matter their choice of mobile device, tablet or computer. Ease of use and quick access to information is what we desired to offer and I hope we have done that.
We continually look for ways to save our members money so be sure to check out our article on CU24. And, we will have a few new product rollouts this year – all designed to maximize your time and convenience as a member of the credit union.
Sincerely,
Kendall Speed
CEO/President
MSCU Launches New Website
Mutual Savings’ website has a new look! We also have a new look for Discover the Alt checking account. These new websites have the same basic functions of the previous sites, but are designed to be faster and easier to navigate.
Accessibility to funds is a must! MSCU knows that the majority of our members rely on our website for access to their account, so we kept many of the functions in the same location. And, with this new website, users will be able to better access the Mutual Savings Credit Union website on any portable device, like a smartphone or tablet. This will make it easier for our members to access home banking to check account balances, transfer funds or utilize bill pay. Of course, our mobile app also remains a convenient option.
We are excited to be able to offer a new feature with this site – the ability to alert members when there is an important announcement (i.e. inclement weather, branch closures, or technical difficulties). This alert will appear at the top of the screen and will disappear when the message is no longer relevant.
Visit our new website today at www.mutualsavings.org.
MSCU Working for You
As many of you may have noticed on your November statements, the entire account number will not show on the statement. Only the last three digits of the account number will appear. This is an effort to help reduce the potential for fraud and give you, the member, peace of mind.
Mr. Key Steps Down
As mentioned in our president’s article, there has been a change in our top management position. After more than seven years at the helm as President/ CEO, Doug Key decided not to renew his contract. As Doug steps away from his current position he hands off a well-capitalized and growing credit union. We want to take the opportunity to honor Doug and acknowledge the hard work as well as the many accomplishments he achieved in his role as president.
Doug left his law practice of over 35 years to join Mutual Savings knowing that he had significant challenges ahead; first and foremost to guide the credit union out of conservatorship. In the span of one year, he achieved that goal. This steady and controlled growth is reflected in our year-over-year loan growth, especially after the first couple of years working through remaining issues. Doug led the credit union on to greater stability and growth. This stability was reflected in a successful merger in 2015.
“ Doug fostered a team environment and his collaborative style meant everyone had a stake in the success of the credit union. To the delight of the management team, under his leadership they saw the credit union take big strides in achieving a profitable future. As a mentor he continues to be a valuable, go-to resource for me,” stated Kendall Speed, newly named President/CEO.
Doug will continue to be involved in the strategic direction of the credit union and will serve as an available resource for all Mutual Savings employees.
Mutual Savings Partners with CU24
Want more access to surcharge-free ATMs? Yes, please! Mutual Savings Credit Union is pleased to take part in the CU24 ATM network, a network designed especially for credit union members. CU24 focuses on serving members by lowering fees and maximizing convenience. What this means to you is you have more access at more locations – some with no fees.
CU24 is the largest credit union owned ATM and Point of Sale (POS) network in the country. This network offers more surcharge-free ATMs than any other network and is in locations that are convenient for our members. This network also allows MSCU members access to their funds at major retailers and at hundreds of thousands of local merchants across the nation. This means that you will be able to get cash back at these retailers if they are CU24 affiliated.
Find more convenient locations to work and home by visiting www.cu24/atm/locator. You can also download the CU24 app from the iPhone store and the Android store.
